IT Storm Technology Inc. (“IT Storm“) is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation.
1. Information We Collect
We collect personal information that is necessary to provide our services:
- Account information: name, email address, company name, phone number, billing address
- Payment information: credit card tokens (processed and tokenized by Stripe or PayPal — IT Storm does not store raw card numbers), Interac e-Transfer reference information
- Domain registrant information: collected on behalf of domain registrar (Namesilo) as required by CIRA and ICANN
- Technical information: IP addresses, server logs, usage data — retained for security and abuse prevention
- Support communications: emails and ticket content related to your account
2. Purpose of Collection
We use your personal information to: provision and manage your services; process billing and payments; send invoices, renewal notices, and service communications; respond to support requests; detect and prevent fraud and abuse; and comply with legal obligations.
3. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for the duration of your active account and for two (2) years following account cancellation or termination, after which it is securely deleted. Hosted data (websites, databases, email) is deleted 30 days after account cancellation as described in our Terms of Service.
4. Third Parties
We share your information only with service providers necessary to deliver our services:
- Stripe — payment processing (card tokenization)
- PayPal — payment processing
- Namesilo — domain registration and WHOIS
- JetBackup — automated backup services hosted on our infrastructure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing purposes.
5. Data Location
All hosting infrastructure and primary data storage is located in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Your data does not leave Canada except as required by payment processors (Stripe, PayPal) which operate under their own PIPEDA-compliant privacy frameworks.
6. Your Rights
Under PIPEDA, you have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate information; withdraw consent for non-essential uses (which may result in service termination); and file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. 7. Security
We protect your personal information using industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit, server-level firewall (Imunify360), CageFS account isolation, and restricted database access. No transmission over the internet is 100% secure; you provide information at your own risk.
8. Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach that poses a real risk of significant harm to affected individuals, IT Storm will notify affected users within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach, and will report to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required by PIPEDA.
9. Cookies
Our client portal (hosting.itstorm.ca) uses session cookies required for authentication and cart functionality. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. No third-party analytics scripts are loaded on the client portal.
